My Womb (2021)
My Womb is my first installation piece and essentially the thesis of my body of work thus far. It contains personal items as well as pieces of my work and props from my films and photography.
This is an idea I've had for years. To me, a womb is the pinnacle of feminity. It is the utmost pure and profound form of connection.
My Womb is the birthplace of my art; it is where I gestate and birth my ideas from. I truly believe this place exists within my body.
Bringing it into the physical world after so long has been an extremely encapsulating process. The entire room is covered from floor to ceiling in pink fabrics. The family photos are all of my mom and grandparents.
Curating an entire room to my aesthetic as an installation piece was a valuable opportunity in actualizing my film and photography.
The plaster cast of the pregnant stomach featured in My Womb is my mother; that's me in her womb.
So I'm in the Womb within My Womb.
